Nigerian Broadcasting Commission bans radio stations from playing songs from rapper Phyno, Wizkid‘s producer Maleek Berry and others.

The NBC occasionally releases strict warnings to radio and TV stations over music content being aired on radio and TV media. This time, they are warning broadcasters stop playing musicals with indecent lyrics and visuals.

In a circular released this week, the NBC mentioned Phyno’s ‘Man of the year’ and Maleek Berry’s ‘The matter’ featuring Wizkid as major examples of songs they expect radio stations to cease from playing and advising them to ‘exhibit responsibility in choice of musicals’.

 NBC placed a ban, In January 2013, on eight videos by Psquare (Alingo), Wande Coal (Go low), Timaya (Bum bum), Flavour (Shake), D’Prince (Take banana), Goldie (Ski bobo), Chuddy K (Brazilian hair) and Tillaman (Koma roll).

Like seriously their songs should be rated 18+. I hope this ban will be very effective because the kind of indecent lyrics I hear innocent children sing these days, ehhh! Hmm! #smh. God will help the “futures of tomorrow”.
