A long-awaited film biopic chronicling the life of late rapper Tupac Shakur will eventually start filming in 2014.
Bosses at Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films and Morgan Creek Productions have announced they are financing and producing the film, titled Tupac, according to Deadline.com. Shakur's mother, Afeni Shakur, is also on board as a producer.
The project has been on hold for years following a dispute between Afeni and Morgan Creek executives, who accused her of continuing to negotiate after a deal over the film rights was agreed.
Shakur's mum countersued the film studio bosses, claiming there was no deal. The two parties reached a settlement in 2011.
Tupac will be filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, but there's still no word on who will direct or star in the movie.
Shakur was killed in a shooting incident in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1996.
